help Why Goddesses?
Ever since I was a child my mother shared all the ancient goddess lore with me that she could find. She was adamant that patriarchy had only existed for a short 3 to 4 thousand years compared with 20 to 50 thousand years of equality and matriarchal cultures.
An avid feminist in the 60’s, maybe she was a little strident. Maybe she was just a strong woman.

About The Artist: Zoe Zuniga
I began painting goddess imagery about ten years ago in water color. As I began to explore oil paint, acrylic and sculpture I did not want only recreate the traditional goddesses but create new images celebrating our strength and power.
I do not believe in “a goddess” as the creator of the world any more than I believe in a Caucasian male with a long white beard as “god”.  These creatures are our creations. These are simply images that humans make to explain who we are deep inside.
